The book “Wines and Wineries of Baja California” has been recognized as one of the best in the world and one of the best in Mexico in the last 30 years by the renowned Gourmand Awards. In addition, Baja California will be represented by Vionda, sommelier and author of the book, with an exclusive wine tasting in Cascais, Portugal.

The guide “Vinitácora: Wines and Wineries of Baja California” has been selected to be part of the prestigious list Best of the Best 2025 list of the Gourmand AwardsThe awards are considered the world’s most important awards in gastronomic and beverage literature. The ceremony will be held on June 19, 2025 at the Estoril Congress Center in Estoril, Portugalas part of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of these international awards, which bring together publications from more than 221 countries and more than 221 countries and regions.
During the ceremony, Mexico will be present not only as a finalist, but also through the palate.. The sommelier Lorena Hernández (Vionda) author and sommelier, will offer a special special tasting of Baja California wines aimed at industry professionals and international media. Some of the wines selected for this event represent several of the state’s most emblematic wineries located in the Guadalupe Valley: Adobe Guadalupe, Clos de Tres Cantos, Pedro Domecq, Casa de Piedra, Vena Cava and Cava Maciel.
Both Lorena Hernández (Vionda) and Fabian JaureguiVionda, founders of Vinitácora and originally from Jalisco, will be recognized at this event for their work in promoting Mexico’s wine routes. With more than 15 years of experience, Vionda has national and international certifications (ONSOM, WSET, AWE in Napa) and has been a key voice in the professionalization and visibility of Mexican wine.
This is the fourth edition of the guide dedicated to Baja California, and the recognition at the Gourmand Awards also represents a tribute to the collective effort of the region. More than 85 wine producers participated in this publication, sharing their work, their history and their vision, which made it possible for this work to reach an international stage.
In 2025, Vinitácora celebrates its tenth anniversary as a publishing company and platform for the promotion of regional wine and beverages. Its bilingual and interactive guides have documented Mexico’s main wine regions, including Querétaro and soon Aguascalientes, as well as international regions such as Anderson Valley in California, USA.
