The guide Vinitácora: Wines and Wineries of Baja California has been awarded first place worldwide in the Wine Guides category during the Gourmand Awards 2025 awards ceremony, held at the Estoril Convention Center, a few kilometers from Lisbon.
The book, co-written by Lorena Hernández (Vionda) and Fabián Jáuregui, was recognized among publications from more than 60 countries for its editorial quality, design and comprehensive approach to promoting Mexican wine and its wine regions.
In the same category, Vinitácora beat guides from Sweden (2nd place), Austria (3rd), Brazil (4th) and Canada (5th).
In addition to the first place, Vinitácora was recognized as a finalist in the special selection for the 30th anniversary of the Gourmand Awards, a distinction reserved for the most influential books of the last three decades.
During the three-day event, the authors offered Mexican wine tastings to international attendees, reinforcing Mexico’s positioning as a world-class wine tourism destination.
“This recognition is not only ours; it represents the work of many people who have believed in Mexican wine. We are proud to put Mexico on a high note and to celebrate this achievement just as Vinitácora turns 10 years old,” shared Fabián Jáuregui, co-author of the book.
Vinitácora is a Mexican publishing project, produced independently by its two authors, which seeks to bring more people closer to Mexican wine through books, maps and bilingual guides, available in print and digital format.
