Baja wines to celebrate the Day of the Dead

The Day of the Dead in Mexico is celebrated every year on November 2 and is undoubtedly the most iconic tradition in our country.

The purpose is to honor all our loved ones who are no longer with us, through the creation of altars dedicated to them where offerings and the photo of the deceased person are placed in the belief that their soul will return to visit us during that day.

Having said that, here are three suggestions of Mexican wines from Baja California, which will undoubtedly be a temptation for our loved ones to come and visit us on the Day of the Dead for these delicious offerings:

 

1. CAVA MACIEL

Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California.

VENUS WHITE: 100% Chardonnay / 12 months in American oak barrels.

The ideal wine to open a conversation

Appearance: Pale gold with greenish reflections, excellent brightness and cleanliness.

Nose: Green apple, pear, citrus, mango, pineapple and white flowers.

Palate: Fresh, vibrant and full-bodied.

Ideal for: Seafood, white meats, cheeses, pastas or simply as an aperitif.

2. VINISTERRA

Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California.

LES GRENACHES: 100% Grenache (Grenache) / 14 months in American oak barrels.

“A versatile, casual wine that even the non-wine drinker will like.”

Appearance: delicate garnet red

Nose: red fruits, hibiscus, anise, herbs, spices and flowers.

Palate: fruity, smooth, fresh and light.

Ideal for: Alone, as an aperitif, dishes with very spicy or hearty, cheeses, salads with red fruits (such as strawberry and nuts), fish and seafood.

3. ADOBE GUADALUPE

Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California.

Blend (blend) of: Cabernet Sauvignon + Syrah / 12 months in American oak barrels

“A fun and elegant wine at the same time, ideal for a romantic dinner.”

Appearance: deep ruby red

Nose: black fruits such as plums and blackberries, hibiscus flowers, sweet notes of tamarind, vanilla and tobacco.

Palate: dry and complex. Floral (roses), black fruits, cherries, blueberry, chocolate and spices.

Ideal for: Fatty cuts, pastas with tomato sauce, mature cheeses.
